Written Communication -
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

We have answered our visitors' and clients' most frequently asked questions below. If you have additional questions, please e-mail us for a prompt answer.

1. Why should I hire a professional writer to write my Web site?
If you've sat down in front of a blank screen and tried to put your business into words, you know the Web's dirty little secret: writing Web pages is not easy. Especially when they're your own.

You wouldn't use the do-it-yourself approach in other areas of your business; to do so would risk presenting your company and its products or services in an unprofessional light. So why should your Web site be any different? It is, after all, your first point of contact with hundreds - even thousands - of potential clients.

But beyond that, it takes some specialized knowledge and skill to write Web pages that not only attract and hold your visitors' attention but that please the search engines as well. Bottom line: sure, you can write your own Web pages, but odds are, your expertise is in running your business - not in writing Web sites. And it will show.

2. Can Written Communication help my existing Web site?
Short answer: yes. Along with original Web content, we also offer rewriting and editing services.

3. What is SESSM copywriting?
Search engine-sensitiveSM (SESSM) copywriting is a blend of the useful, interesting, readable content people expect with the keyword-rich content search engines favor. To learn more about SES copywriting, please click here.

4. What is an e-pub ad?
E-pub ads are the small advertisements you see in your favorite e-mail newsletters, or e-pubs. Each e-pub has strict limits on the length and format of ads. We tailor your e-pub advertisements accordingly and target them to each publication's audience.

5. What is opt-in e-mail?
If you've visited a site and clicked the box marked "please send me occasional updates and special offers," you've opted into an e-mail advertising list. Because it is sent only to those who have indicated an interest in receiving it, opt-in e-mail is typically more effective than other forms of online advertising.

Please note: we will not write messages to be used as "spam," or unsolicited bulk e-mail.

6. What are the benefits of partnering with Written Communication?
If you represent a Web design firm, online marketing agency or traditional marketing agency, and you're interested in offering your clients Web copywriting or online marketing copywriting services, we provide a turnkey solution that's pure profit. We sell you our services at a discounted rate, and you're free to mark them up to whatever price you choose. Please see our Partnerships page for details, or fill out our information request form and we will contact you personally.

7. I own a small business. I know I need your services, but my budget is limited. Do you offer any discounts?
Yes, we offer several packages and discounts to small businesspeople. Please refer to our Partnerships page for details.

8. What kind of turnaround time can I expect on my project?
We generally like to have three to five business days for smaller projects and seven to ten for larger ones. We do provide rush services, however, for an additional fee.

9. What if I don't like what you write?
Our goal is to provide a service that meets your expectations. All our services include two revisions, if necessary, within the first two weeks after initial delivery. Additional revisions will be billed at $75 per hour, with a minimum of one hour - but we have yet to find a client who wasn't satisfied with one or two revisions.
